The commitment to the environmental quality of campuses is central to the modern tertiary experience and represents a multi-million dollar investment in higher education infrastructure. As part of our Australian Research Council Discovery project, ‘Campus: Building Modern Australian Universities’ (DP160100364), this practitioner-focused symposium and discussion will bring together of a range of highly experienced speakers (designers, planners, senior executives) from around Australia to discuss current issues facing campus management and design, the results of which will feed directly into our published research outcomes and forthcoming book.

The Symposium will provide an engaging platform for discussion over lessons learnt from the past, key challenges and directions, and emerging foci for the campus of the future: changing student market and expectations; urban design initiatives in the context of city and regional campuses; master planning, landscape design; new technologies and their influence on the design of campuses as social and learning communities; and, conservation, management and adaptive reuse as campuses evolve in response to competing demands.

This is a free event, with catering and drinks provided throughout the day.
