ACAHUCH + City of Melbourne presents the Hoddle Grid Heritage Review
Join Suellen Hunter (Senior Strategic Planner, Heritage) and Tanya Wolkenberg (Team Leader, Heritage) from the City of Melbourne discussing the 55 postwar buildings identified for protection in the Hoddle Grid Heritage Review, which is implemented through Planning Scheme Amendment C387.
Context and GJM Heritage have recommended offices, apartments, clubs, hotels, telephone exchanges, retailing and a cinema are protected in Heritage Overlays. Many of these buildings were designed by celebrated architects. They tell the story of postwar recovery and Melbourne’s transformation into Australia’s financial centre, where corporations sought a dominant city presence that projected a modern, progressive and prestigious image. Amendment C387 is on public exhibition until 17 December 2020 so it’s time to have your say on Amendment.
The Amendment documentation can be found here.
