ICOMOS International Day for Monuments and Sites: Heritage of Sport – 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games

The Australian Collaboratory for Architectural History, Urban and Cultural Heritage (ACAHUCH) is hosting a free lunchtime seminar as part of Australian Heritage Week (16-24 April). The theme for this year’s ICOMOS International Day for Monuments and Sites, the “Heritage of Sport”, provides a unique opportunity to explore the enduring influence of the 1956 Olympic Games on Melbourne’s cultural and architectural identity. An introduction by Professor Philip Goad will be accompanied by the screening of select footage from the film “Melbourne Rendezvous”.
