    About ICAM22 :

ICAM22, to be delivered as a in-person conference at M+ in Hong Kong in December 2024, will include five sessions and a Pecha Kucha. Descriptions of four of these sessions are included below and abstracts are invited from those wishing to be considered as presenters in those sessions. The fi􀅌h session is an open call to the members to propose a topic and chair.

Our Pecha Kucha invites very short presentations of any aspect of your work with a focus on what is new, as well as offering new members the chance to introduce themselves. The facilites at M+ allow us to include parallel Pecha Kucha sessions involving more speakers than we can usually accommodate, so please put yourself forward!

Please note that all speakers are required to pay for their travel, accommodation and the conference registration fee. Grants covering accommodation and the fee will be available for members on a competitve basis. See here for more information

PECHA KUCHA – 20 slides, each of 20 seconds = 6 minutes and 40 seconds in total. We are looking forward to hearing stories not presented in the ICAM-conferences before, neither as paper nor Pecha Kucha. For example, new buildings, new museums, new collections. And if you are new to ICAM, why not introduce yourself and your institution?

    About M+:

Opened in 2021, M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. In Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District, it is one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world, with a bold ambition to establish ourselves as one of the world’s leading cultural institutions. M+ is a new kind of museum that reflects our unique time and place, a museum that builds on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and the international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century.

The M+ building is designed by Herzog & de Meuron in partnership with TFP Farrells and Arup. Located at the southernmost edge of Kowloon overlooking Victoria Harbour, it is among Hong Kong’s most iconic landmarks, both monumental in its architectural form and radically open in its position in the urban landscape.
